The 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad, which was organized by Raindrop Turkish House, was held at the Hobby Center Sarofim Hall on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Viewed by 2000 viewers, there was a festive atmosphere. The MC of the program was Fox 26’s Melissa Wilson.
The program also hosted distinguished guests including congressmen and congresswomen from Turkey, Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis and the Consul General of Turkey.
Students did a great job in their performances. The audience enjoyed professional class singing, poetry recitation and folk dance performances representing different local regions of Turkey from Horon to Zeybek.
Raindrop Turkish House is organizing the 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad Southwest America Finals and everyone is invited to this exciting event that contributes in very colorful cultural life of Greater Houston area and Great State of Texas. Houston will host students from seven states who will compete in 11 categories including singing, poetry, talent, picture and figure, folklore, cuisine, language and state exhibition contests.

Dear Art Educators, We would be honored to have your students as a participant from the Art category in the 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad South west America finals which will be held on Saturday February 18, 2012, at Hobby Center inSarofim Hall in Houston Texas. Students will create an artistic representation of a location about Turkey they have visited, an experience they have had, or an idea or theme they wish to convey to the audience. Each school can submit a maximum three works of art. All art work should be mailed out to Raindrop Foundation by Friday January 20, 2012. It should be addressed to Mehmet Okumus. Last year, Raindrop Turkish House hosted around 2500 people in Hobby Center. The winners represented our country during Turkish Olympiad in Turkey. Raindrop Turkish House believes that activities such as Turkish Olympiads and others will establish bridges between Turkish and American communities and serve for the betterment of humanity.
