Dear Art Educators, We would be honored to have your students as a participant from the Art category in the 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad South west America finals which will be held on Saturday February 18, 2012, at Hobby Center in Sarofim Hall in Houston Texas. Students will create an artistic representation of a location about Turkey they have visited, an experience they have had, or an idea or theme they wish to convey to the audience. Each school can submit a maximum three works of art. All art work should be mailed out to Raindrop Foundation by Friday January 20, 2012. It should be addressed to Mehmet Okumus. Raindrop Foundation 9301 West Bellfort Blvd. Houston, Texas 77099 Results will be announced on Saturday, February 18, 2012 during 6th Annual Turkish Olympiad South west America Finals. It will be a unique opportunity for your students to receive the awards from the elected distinguished guests’ hands in front of 3000 attendees during the finals. Here are the awards for the winners: Golden Place Awards (1 student) $100 Silver Place Awards (2 students) $80 Bronze Place Awards (3 students) $60 Honorable Mention Place Awards (4 students) $40 Students' artwork will be displayed to audiences on Saturday, February 18, 2012 between 12:00 pm. and 5:00 pm. Some artworks may be kept by the Turkish Olympiad to be exhibited in other venues. I would be pleased to take this advantage to introduce Raindrop Turkish House and Turkish Language Olympiad. Raindrop Turkish House is a nonprofit organization based in Houston Texas with 17 branches in eight states including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kansas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Tennessee and Mississippi. It has been serving the community since 2000. Raindrop Turkish House has been organizing Morning Conversations, luncheons, panels, retreats; help campaigns, conferences as well as serving the Turkish American communities. As part of serving Turkish American community in Texas and neighboring states, Raindrop Turkish House has been entering into educational affiliations, teaching Turkish classes and encouraging study of Turkish. In order to promote Turkish language learning and cultural diversity, Raindrop Turkish House has been organizing Turkish Olympiads since 2007. This year Raindrop Turkish House is organizing the 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad South west America finals. Houston will host students from these eight states who will compete in 11 categories including singing, poetry, talent, Turkish language, art, folklore, Turkish Cuisine and state exhibition contests. Last year, Raindrop Turkish House hosted around 2500 people in Hobby Center. The winners represented our country during Turkish Olympiad in Turkey. Raindrop Turkish House believes that activities such as Turkish Olympiads and others will establish bridges between Turkish and American communities and serve for the betterment of humanity.
